California Grill is a Disney Signature Dining restaurant located on the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Known for its market‑inspired Californian cuisine, extensive wine program, and sweeping rooftop views, it’s one of Walt Disney World’s most iconic dining experiences.

Guests ride a private elevator to the top of the Contemporary, where floor‑to‑ceiling windows overlook Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom.

Fireworks Dining Experience

California Grill offers one of the most immersive fireworks dining experiences on Disney property. During Magic Kingdom fireworks, the restaurant dims the lights and pipes in the show music. Guests may also step out onto the rooftop observation deck to watch the fireworks from above.

Fireworks are subject to weather conditions and may be modified or canceled.

Market‑Inspired Cuisine

California Grill features a prix fixe, 3‑course selection menu that highlights seasonal ingredients and global flavors inspired by California’s diverse culinary culture.

Check‑In & Arrival

Guests should check in using the My Disney Experience app upon arrival at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. California Grill guests report to the second floor, where a Cast Member escorts them via a private elevator to the restaurant.

California Grill is a Disney Signature Dining experience. Guests are expected to dress in attire that reflects the restaurant’s sophisticated atmosphere. Clothing should be clean, neat, and in good condition. Swimwear is not permitted.

Advance Dining Reservations are strongly recommended and often book quickly, especially during popular fireworks times.

Our Personal Take

We really enjoyed California Grill. The atmosphere is unique, and the private elevator ride up to the rooftop immediately makes it feel special. Watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from above is an incredible experience and something every Disney fan should do at least once.

While the food was good, it didn’t quite exceed expectations for the price point the way we hoped. That said, the overall experience — the views, the fireworks, and the ambiance — makes California Grill a must‑do at least once, especially for a celebration or special occasion.
