✈️ Overview
Getting to Disney is the first part of the adventure. For military families, retired service members, or anyone planning a big trip, travel logistics can be one of the trickiest details. The good news: you have plenty of options whether you’re driving, flying, or arranging airport transfers.

🚗 Driving to Disney
Driving can be a great option if you live within a reasonable distance, are traveling with lots of luggage, or just want full independence. Remember to budget for gas, tolls, and parking fees (currently $17 per night at Shades of Green).

Tip from the road: We drive from North Carolina via I-95. In Sanford we jump on toll road 429 — it’s worth it to avoid the heavy traffic on I-4 in Orlando. Since we make this trip several times a year, we use an E-Pass transponder to save on tolls. (No military discount is currently offered for tolls on 429.)

🛫 Flying to Disney
Flying is faster and often less stressful for long distances. Both Orlando International (MCO) and Orlando Sanford (SFB) serve Disney guests, but they differ in airlines, amenities, and travel times to the resort.
Tip from the skies: MCO is the larger airport with more flights, dining, and rental car options. SFB is smaller and often easier to navigate, with shorter security lines — but flight options are limited, and you’ll have a longer drive to Disney.

🚐 Airport Transfers
No matter which airport you use, you’ll need a way to get to your resort. Options include:
- Shuttle services (like Mears Connect or military-friendly private transfers)
- Rideshare apps (Uber/Lyft)
- Rental cars
