📜 A Bit of Disney History
Dumbo the Flying Elephant has been spinning since Magic Kingdom’s opening day in 1971, but the version you see now was upgraded and relocated during the Fantasyland expansion. Now featuring two rotating carousels and a beautiful water feature, it’s a major upgrade from the original—but still holds that same sentimental heart. The indoor queue play area was a smart addition, keeping little ones happy while they wait to ride.
Pro Tips
✅ Go early in the morning or later at night to avoid long waits
✅ Let the kids play in the indoor circus-themed play area while one adult waits in line
✅ Ideal for a first ride of the day for toddlers
✅ You don’t have to ride if you’re using Rider Switch and your kid wants to go again
✅ Service Dogs are welcome, but Cast Members may provide guidance depending on conditions
🎪 Our Personal Take
I love Dumbo. He’s just so cute—and this ride captures all of his sweetness in the best way. The circus theming adds so much fun to the whole experience, especially the colorful tent and playful music. One trip, a Cast Member in full circus attire made me a paper origami stork—just like the one from the movie that delivered Dumbo and now sits proudly at the top of the ride. That moment stuck with me. And honestly, the indoor play area in the queue? Brilliant. It’s not just a ride—it’s an experience that brings out the kid in everyone.

🎈 The ride used to be a single spinner but was doubled in 2012 for better capacity and shorter lines.
🎪 The indoor play queue is air-conditioned and themed like a circus tent—one of the best hidden gems for escaping the heat with toddlers.
📽️ Dumbo was the fourth animated feature released by Disney, and one of Walt’s personal favorites.
🕊️ The stork on top of the attraction is a nod to Mr. Stork from the movie, who delivers baby Dumbo.
