Service Animals at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is often referred to as the “Most Accessible Place on Earth,” and for good reason. Disney parks and resorts welcome trained service animals, providing guests with physical challenges or other disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the magic alongside their furry (or equine) companions.

At Disney World, service animals are limited to dogs and miniature ponies, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. However, there are several restrictions and policies that guests should be aware of before bringing their service animal to the parks.

It’s crucial to read up on Disney’s service animal policies ahead of time, as they cover important details such as where service animals are allowed, what rides they can and cannot access, and the availability of relief areas. Knowing this useful information will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for both you and your service animal.

Disney World provides designated Service Animal relief areas throughout the parks, making it easy for guests to tend to their animal’s needs. Additionally, they offer a “Rider Switch” program, which allows guests with service animals to take turns riding attractions that may not be suitable for their animal companion. Portable dog kennels are also available for some rides where service animals are not permitted.

By familiarizing yourself with Disney’s service animal policies and taking advantage of the parks’ and resort’s accessible features, you can ensure that your service animal and you have a magical time at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
