A Bit of Disney History
The ride debuted at Magic Kingdom in 2012 as part of the Fantasyland expansion. It’s nearly identical to The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure, which opened in 2011. The attraction fulfills a long-standing Disney Imagineering dream — early concepts for a Little Mermaid ride date all the way back to the movie’s release in 1989.

Our Personal Take
On our very first trip, I was completely taken in by this attraction. It’s so colorful, classic, and full of magic that I truly felt like I was stepping into the movie itself. While it doesn’t quite hit with the same intensity as that very first ride, it still holds a special place in my heart and remains one of my favorites.
